Last December, Google announced an amendment to the way APK files were uploaded to the Play Store, including security data confirming the source of those applications. In June, the company officially launched the change.
Thanks to the security data that has become part of every application downloaded from the store to devices, Google has now announced a new change to take advantage of that data, which allows users to share apps and games among themselves through external applications.
Popular sharing applications such as SHAREit, which allows sharing of files, photos and videos, are known to share the original APKs for apps and games with the new change.
Google said its file management application, Files Go, and the Xender application will support this feature in the coming weeks.
App sharing between users is useful for people who do not have an Internet connection, plus the very large sizes of some apps and games, so being able to move them as an APK through SHAREit is a welcome feature.
