The Google Assistant appears to support the dialects of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
The most impressive paragraph at the opening session of Google I / O 2018 was the Google Assistant section, especially when the CEO of Google Duplex, Sundar Bechai, made the Google Duplex technology that made the eyes and mouths start to wonder when we saw how an assistant Google make phone calls and talk to others on your behalf to book appointments, human voice and 100% human talk. We will have a special article on this flash technique for dogs, it is not our subject now.
But the most important news that was not announced openly by Google but passed quickly during the opening session is that the Google Assistant will finally reach the support of the Arabic language, where Google said during the conference that the assistant will support many new languages before the end of this year, The map, which appeared in the background of the show, featured several Arab countries: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.
Supporting Arabic is a big challenge for Google, first because of the wide variety of dialects, and that is why Google has identified certain countries on the map that will apparently support their dialects rather than identifying all Arab countries. And secondly because of the weakness of Arabic content on the Internet. The Google Assistant relies mainly on the content available on the web to provide answers. Even Arabic Wikipedia, which is considered the best organized Arabic content, can be relied upon, but in the end it is only the best among the worst because of its general content and the weakness of the content available compared to other languages.
Of course, Google has to train its assistant to execute normal commands in Arabic well, such as scheduling appointments and controlling smart home appliances, etc. But I wonder how well they can answer public information questions, as well as whether they will support classical language.
We have two possibilities: either Google will only support dialects and thus only support voice commands (appointment recording, etc.) and not search for information in at least the first version. Or it will also support standard language to facilitate the search for public information.
We know that Google is following this blog, so leave comments in your comments about Google's support for Arabic and what you wish to see, and what is the best way to support Arabic in the plugin.
